Ikea Hacky-Lack

Get it? Like "Hacky-Sack" but "lack"? No? Okay.

 How was your weekend?! This was the first one in WEEKS I feel like we didn't have absolutely jam packed full of things to do. It was nice to actually take a weekend to relax! But if you know me...there is no relaxing without a sprinkle of DIY thrown in. Enter:

I'm fairly certain we all own the 15 dollar LACK side table from Ikea. It was the first piece of Furniture Jake & I purchased back in our "so poor we can't even afford craigslist furniture" days. (Don't worry...we're currently in the "So Poor we can only afford Craigslist furniture" days). I knew these would seriously make for the easiest upholstered stools ever for the foot of our bed, so I hopped on over to Hobby Lobby after work on Friday and picked up the following supplies:

• Foam
• Quilt Batting
• Material 

That's it! 3 item project, yeah man! (well...not including the staples/staple gun/and stools themselves)

I followed the exact same process as I did for our DIY Headboard, but I didn't tuft the stools.

Start by gluing your foam to your side table

Okay I should probably mention to unwrap the foam, & screw the legs off the table first before anyone is angry and me for not mentioning that part. I hate spray adhesive with foam, I find it doesn't work at all, so I used my buddy Gorilla Glue for this project

Next, drape your batting over the foam+table  and cut to size. Make sure you leave enough room to pull it tight and staple on the back.





It's so smooth after it's been batted! Make sure you're not covering up the leg holes so you can easily screw the legs back into the stool-table when you're done upholstering it.

 Now is when the magic happens. Its time to use your staple gun to staple the fabric to the back of the table. It helps me to find the place i'd like my pattern to start, and cut the square from there. Again, ensuring I leave enough room for it to be stapled in the back.

From here, you simply wrap like a present & staple all around! After you've wrapped it, cut any excess with an exacto knife. It will look like this once you screw in the legs:

Now set em up where you'd like them and let your tushie bask in the foamy comfort :)





 Our bedroom is getting a full overhaul sometime soon. (No date yet...could be months...could be years...but eventually we'll tackle it)

Not bad for a quick 1 hour Saturday morning project, huh? I'm still not crazy about the legs, so I might switch em out...but for now it's a nice place to put my shoes on in the morning :)
