4 years, the anniversary edition

Yesterday was mine and Jakes 4 year anniversary. Funny story though...you know how usually men forget anniversaries? Dates/how long its been and so on? Well I remembered that it was May 23rd, but very embarrassingly didn't know what year it was! Somewhere between this year and last year I lost count, and I have been saying it was our 5 year anniversary for months. Well the control freak know-it-all that I am got in a full blown argument with Jake over the year it was, and turns out after doing the math that well, he was right. (Cue humiliation face). So I had to go back and change all of the numbers on the gifts I made him and everything...it was the worst!

We actually don't buy gifts for anniversaries, we usually make something heart felt, and it really means so much more that way. When Jake and I exchanged gifts yesterday, I never expected to fall so much more in love with him (get your barf-bag handy) afterwards. He had been working for weeks on a book full of letters and poems he had written to me, and they were hilarious, sweet, touching, and perfect in every way. Here are some of my favorite pages:

I asked him why I am so fat in the wedding picture of us, and said "its not your body, its a big poofy dress" Ha! You would think a pre-schooler drew these pictures ;)

can you even believe how sweet this is?! My heart melted a million times, and I couldn't stop the tears welling up, it was just too much.

I made him this cute little book:

I got the idea from my fav site ever, Pinterest of course! I will still post a how-to though cause it turned out so dang cute!

After exchanging gifts, we went to our favorite spot in La Jolla, and layed out a blanket and had a delicious little picnic over looking the waves and cliffs. Then finished the night with some Sprinkles cupcakes..MM!

It was simple, perfect, and I could not have asked for more, God really hooked me up when he put Jake and I together, and I could not be happier.

Stay tuned for gift tutorials to come! Love you guys!
