I have totally hit the pregnancy wall, and as much as I want to break out the DSLR and take some cute pictures to share for the last few weeks, i'm afraid I just don't have it in me! However, I didn't want to let another week pass without an update since so much has happened in the last few weeks, so iPhone bump photos it is!
The past few weeks have been rough! Mentally and physically. I'm tired! He is measuring just about 7 pounds right now, and it blows my mind a little sometimes there is a full grown human baby wiggling around my insides. This week i've officially entered "I need to work from home because there is a bowling ball in my vagina" territory. The past few days i've woken up and thought to myself #icanteven, so having the option to finish up my last minute work projects from home has been a God-send!
Not to mention, nearly everything is showing midriff at this point, and lets be honest, nobody wants to see that. ;)
How far along? 38 weeks!
Total weight gain: 30 pounds. I think that is where i'll hang out because i've weighed the same just about every doctors appointment the past few weeks. Everything gets mighty squished in there towards the end, and there isn't a lot of room for food! Although I did have two helpings of Lasagna last night and it was scrumptious :)
Maternity clothes? Yeah, about that. Those don't fit anymore either. I'm living in Jake's clothes and bath robes.
Stretch marks? You betcha! The under part of my belly (out of my sight) was itching so bad the other night so I got a mirror to ch-ch-check it out, and a few more lovely surprise stretch marks have shown up in the last few days. They're worth it though, my body has gone through a lot in the past 38 weeks!
Sleep: Once a week i'll get a nice solid 2 hours of continuous rest before waking up to pee. I live for that :)
Best moment this week: Realizing that we have 11 days or less until we meet our son. My doctor goes out of town 2 days after my due date, and I don't want to miss her, so if he doesn't come on his own, he will be induced on October 27th. I'm so stinking excited about it! I'm nervous, and hopeful that he decides it is time before then, but knowing he will be here very soon is so overwhelmingly exciting!
Miss Anything? I miss being mobile. Like, being able to walk without feeling like my hips will break. I know these days are numbered though, so i'm trying to have the best attitude through it!
Movement: He is still a moving machine, however, I can totally tell how crowded he is and they're pretty strong movements, but not as wiggly as before.
Food cravings: I had to have some Lasagna last night, and I had to have Queso the day before. Right now i'm just eating whatever the heck I want. Those days are very much numbered, and if this 9 month pregnant lady wants chips and queso, i'm not going to feel the slightest bit guilty over it!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really. My stomach is squished, so as usual, if I eat too much I feel really sick to my stomach, but if I keep my meals small i'm usually pretty set. :)
Gender: Our first little boy!
Labor Signs: I sure think so! I mean, I don't know what it's supposed to feel like, but Braxton Hicks are so strong sometimes they take my breath away, and especially overnight I have some actual period-crampy feeling contractions. I always hope that they're the start of "the real thing" but they always taper off. At my 36 week appointment I was 85% effaced and 1.5 dilated, but HOLY HELL that was the worst pain of my entire life having my doctors hand halfway up my hoo-ha, so I basically swore I wouldn't do that again unless absolutely necessary. My doctor has let me pass on dilation checks every week since, but said that I have to this Wednesday to prepare for my induction. I'm already getting the nervous sweats thinking about it!
Symptoms: Everything just really, really hurts. My feet are crazy swollen and they ache like I ran a marathon, and my hips and inner thighs truly feel like there is a bowling ball hanging out in there. I think the best thing to compare it to is as if you've been horseback riding and the next day you're so sore. It's all a great sign pointing towards baby time! My body has also started really producing relaxin, so all of my joints are sore. Even my fingers!
Belly Button in or out? Still popped out like a turkey timer- a turkey timer that is saying it is time.
Wedding rings on or off? Off! I had to pick up a cheapo wedding band from Walmart because I just feel better with a ring on my hand, and my set does not fit one bit at all. I had it cleaned and then put it away in it's box and it was so sad! Hopefully swelling goes down soon after baby. But if it doesn't, Walmart has a mighty cute ring selection ;)
Happy or Moody most of the time: As I said earlier, I've hit the wall a bit. So although I am so excited and so happy, my emotions are on overdrive! I went out shopping last weekend, hopeful that since i'd be shopping I wouldn't notice how much it hurt to walk around, but it didn't work and I ended up coming home early. When Jake asked me why I was back so early, I just started sobbing! Hormones, people.
Looking forward to: I am looking forward to the first time I get to lay eyes on his face. and his toes. and his little knees and elbows and squishy lips. I know he has his daddy's lips and I am going to kiss the heck out of them! Sometimes I worry that my heart will actually burst the first time I see him. It's a good thing we're having him in the hospital, i'll tell the heart surgeon to be on standby :)
