Happy Hump-Day, Gals!
I need to apologize for the quality and lack of photo's in today's post. I seriously have had the most frustrating weather ever each weekend (when I get blog posts together) and it's been dark and gloomy daily. Boo! I'm so ready for summer when we have sunshine, but also for there to still be some light when I get off work so I can get some blogging done before the sun goes down!
We've been slowly but surely making some progress in our office/guest room, and one of things we needed to seriously get under control were our files upon files upon files!
I didn't realize how necessary this truly was until I started doing our taxes for this year and realized I had blog receipts everywhere with no rhyme or reason for the organization.
I was so inspired by my favorite, Jen at iHeart Organizing, and the way she turned some standard photoboxes into gorgeous Kate-Spade inspired nesting beauties, and I knew I could do something similar with some file boxes to make some chic-storage for the paperwork coming out of our eyeballs.
These file boxes were purchased at Target (in stores only) for 13.99. They have such a cute chevron pattern inside and they're extremely functional for the space. With just a little lovin' I made them perfect for our faux built-in cabinets.
I started by giving them a few coats of Krylon Spraypaint in Watermelon. I have major issues with spray paint, it never seems to give me the finish i'm looking for, so next time I might go with a watered-down acrylic paint, but for this quick project it worked fine.
I taped off the lip of the lid, and used a q-tip and some gold gilding to give it a little gold flare.
All I had to do next was add an adhesive bookplate and get to filing!
It was a truly simple project that is adding some function into our live-work space. What do you have in your office that you couldn't live without? Next we have to tackle the terrifying closet, so i'd love to hear your tips and tricks!
Thanks so much for coming by!
Until Next Time,
xo Kylie
