Making Your Hair Color LAST!

Well hello there, good lookin' ladies!

If you follow me on instagram @roseandcoblog, you may have saw I chopped a ton of hair off over the weekend and I am OBSESSED! It isn't short for many, but this is short for me, and it feels so much healthier, and i'm determined to keep it looking great!

You all know that I dye my own hair at home, and this is quite the time commitment, so now that i'm a mama, it's more important than ever to follow some steps to make that color last!  Whether you dye it at home, or spend your hard earned dollars at the salon, you want to get the most out of your color, right?!

1. My first and most important tip is to only wash your hair every 2-3 days. I've mentioned this before, but it truly is the most important! Don't strip your gorgeous locks of their shine and natural oils by washing every day!

2. When you do wash your hair, use John Frieda Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Deeper™ Colour Deepening Shampoo/Conditioner. This stuff is amazing! You know how important good products are to me when using them on my hair, and i've been hooked since i've started using Visibly Deeper. My shade continues to look deep, dark, and shiny after every single wash. I'm usually dying my hair every 6-8 weeks, and this last color has lasted me 10 weeks and going strong! I highly recommend this to gradually lighten or darken your hair. I find that this shampoo works best to combat fading that happens after I dye my hair. It is formulated with evening primrose oil and cocoa so it smells AMAZING! You can use this even if you don't dye your hair and just want to bring out your natural gorgeous deep shades, too. Watch this short video to learn more!

3. Keep your hairstyles heat-free, or only use heat once or twice a week. I love to keep my hair in a big chunky braid, but if I do use heat, I make sure to set them so that I only have to use heat now and then.

 4. Drink lots and lots of water! Drinking lots of water makes your hair thick, luscious, and full of moisture. When my hair is healthy, it doesn't break and therefor my color lasts longer, plus I notice my hair accepts the color so much better when its healthy and well hydrated!

I picked up Brilliant Brunette® Visibly Deeper™ Colour Deepening Shampoo/Conditioner at Walgreens (you know how I love me some Walgreens beauty!) after walking by the in-store end cap display. I'm a sucker for a good deal and with your Walgreens Balance Rewards card, all John Frieda products are by one get one half off until 1/30/2016. You can score this deal in store or online...if you like to shop in your pajamas like me ;)

Do you all have any tips for making your color last? Also, is it crazy that I totally want to cut off like 4 more inches of my hair at my next appointment? Tell me i'll regret it!

See you all soon!

Until Next Time,

  1. I can't wait till my hair grows out again! It used to be far below my chest, but I had to cut it off the summer before last (2014) because it fried due to a bad combination of heavy florida sun with the wrong hair products... :( Oh well! haha I will never make those mistakes again lol

Your hair, on the other hand, looks absolutely gorgeous! I love it! That is the length I hope to have soon :)
