Christmas 2015

Is Christmas really over? I am so not ready to say goodbye! Although the warm weather made it feel anything but festive, I have to say, our first Christmas with our Sawyer was the best one of our lives! Even if he couldn't care less about anything but his milk and mama cuddles. :)

This isn't going to be a DIY or inspirational post by any means, but because this is sort of an online diary of sorts, I thought i'd share the snaps from Christmas morning and the days leading up to it.

Jake and I have a tradition to go out to dinner on the 23rd of December, so this year we brought along the cutest third wheel, and then went out to look at Christmas lights. Our baby was mesmerized! It was so sweet to see his eyes light up looking at the Christmas displays. We made an extra stop to see Santa again and then headed home to snuggle and watch a Christmas movie or two. It was the perfect way to jump start our holiday spirit.

Christmas Eve day I spent literally ALL morning getting Sawyer and myself ready for our 3:00 PM Christmas Eve service (you mamas out there know how much longer it takes to get ready solo) and Dad called us at 2:00 telling us he wasn't going to be able to leave work as early as he had hoped. This resulted in a breakdown and not out of the baby in the house...although I guess you could say I was being a bit of a baby. We headed over to my parents house in yoga pants and I didn't snap a single picture! We chowed down on BBQ ribs and played games before heading home so Santa could come. This was Kaedyn's first Christmas that he really "got it" and he was FULL of insane excitement. This picture with his gingerbread train sums up the energy oozing from every pore.

Christmas morning we headed up to Grandma and Grandpa's BRIGHT and early (directly after Sawyer's 6 AM feeding...snore) so we could catch the look on Kaedyn's face when he saw that Santa came.

This was the calm before the wrapping paper storm! Santa brought Kaedyn a bike and play dough, and at one point he had so many gifts around him he said "I can't open any more! I just can't!"

This kid made out like a bandit! Sawyer and I sat back and watched as presents piled up on either side of us. Have you ever sat back and just watched as your loved ones opened gifts? It beats receiving them 10 fold. That was my favorite part of Christmas!

My sister is a bit of a Harry Potter nerd, and her boyfriend made her this GORGEOUS Ravenclaw crate box and bought her the collectors editions of the series to go inside. Her reaction was priceless.

We were lucky enough to have my Grandma here with us for Christmas, and she received lots of gifts from her Grandkids, and snuck in some Sawyer snuggles every chance she got.

Jake and I are HUGE Walking Dead fans, and Gram got Sawyer this onesie and we just about died!

Jake got a new Raider hat and he hasn't taken it off since. I'd also like to take a moment to recognize that it is complete BS that he can wake up at 6 AM, throw on a pair of jeans and look this steamy. Not fair, but I don't mind lookin' ;)

Kaedyn couldn't wait to take his new bike for a test drive, so after we ate my mom's famous breakfast casserole, we all headed outside to watch him take her for her maiden voyage. He was so scared at first but quickly warmed up and hasn't taken a break since! My Dad even threw together this little video of his adventures that day ;)

Jake & I went easy on the gifts for each other this year, (we got the greatest early Christmas gift of all in October!) But he did surprise me with this polaroid camera which i've been asking for FOREVER and it was so fun to snap pictures to keep for years to come. We've been trying to think of traditions that will be meaningful to keep with Sawyer, and I think a yearly polaroid will be a very special one.

Baby Sawyer was of course spoiled as ever by his Grandparents and Great-Grandparents on both sides. We even got him to sleep in his crib a FULL NIGHT with all of the crib-soothers Santa brought him! It was truly the best Christmas ever, and the only thing that would have made it better would be having our California family here to celebrate with us, Christmas is about family above all, and it always makes us homesick missing them year after year.  I'm already counting down to Christmas 2016, I can't wait to see baby boy toddling around!

Our 2 month old boy looks like a toddler. He doesn't miss many meals ;)

...and because I took these this morning (a little late!) and just about melted into a puddle...Sawyer's first Christmas!

I hope you had the most beautiful Holiday with those you love most!

Until Next Time,

    1. Isn't it crazy? I don't know who gave him permission to grow so big, but it's happening and there isn't a darn thing I can do to stop it! Axl got a few dog toys and bones, but the poor guy is living on the back burner lately ;)

  6. Christmas is a Christian holiday that commemorates Jesus Christ's birth. With the exception of some Eastern churches that use the Julian calendar, it is observed every year on December 25. Christmas is now celebrated as a cultural occasion by a great number of non-Christians all around the world. It is a national holiday in numerous nations. Christmas has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1870.

  10. Rose is such a beautiful flower! So many lovely shades of pink, yellow and red out there. It's amazing how the rose has been viewed as a symbol of love and used in many occasions as gifts. I'm sure as both of us appreciate them, we can appreciate the beauty of this flower even more.
