Shavin' time, Shavin' Money

 Well good morning, readers!

I hope your weekend was fantastic! They're always too short, aren't they? Work has been insane the past few weeks so i'm always sad to see those 2 blissful days go.

Today I want to talk to you about something that is a big deal for a cheap thrifty lady like myself. Saving money is a big deal in our household, but there are some things a girl just has to splurge on. I have 3 key obsessions in my life, okay more like 100...but on this blog I focus on Home/DIY, keepin' it beautiful, and some fun outfit combinations, and I just can't afford to splurge on all 3, so I find ways to pinch pennies in some places, so I can treat myself in others.

In my makeup drawer, I can't live without my SuperGoop, which is a tad on the pricey side, but I love a Revlon balm stain instead of a more pricey lippie from the department store. The most important rule of thumb for me is, don't be afraid of the drugstore! There are some incredible finds in there, and you can almost always find a dupe for your high-end favorites!

In our home, now and then I think it's worth splurging on something, like really good bedding. But other times, buying a cheaper nightstand from Walmart, and adding some fancy hardware adds just as much impact. Always remember, it doesn't have to be expensive to be beautiful.  That is seriously my mantra! Get creative! Think outside of the box when it comes to decorating your home, and DIY whenever you can. If you are running out of inspiration, you know Pinterest exists for the sole purpose, so get pinning!

When it comes to my hair, I dye it at home rather than going to the salon and spending hundreds, but I just LOVE my Alterna and Macadamia hair oils which run a lot more per bottle. It's so important to test products to decide what is a splurge and what is a save for you. I recommend taking advantage of a subscription box like Ipsy or Birchbox to test high-end products at an amazing price rather than taking the plunge on something pricey you might not love! Also, sometimes it's best to just stick with your oldies but goodies. I adore my Tresemme (as you all know) and even after trying several different products, I always find myself going back to old faithful.

Speaking of old faithful, it's probably time to ditch that nasty razor in your shower. I mentioned my love for subscription boxes, and how they help me really nail down what is worth saving/splurging on, and Dollar Shave Club is no exception. For $1, $6, or $9 bucks a month, they send you a brand spankin' new, amazeballs razor saving you the hassle of remembering to add it to your grocery list, and the outrageous cost of those babies at the market! Now ladies, I know what you're thinking, but I don't want to shave my legs in winter...I feel you, I do. But when a new razor magically shows up on your door step every month, it sort of puts the smooth back into your shower routine. I actually enjoy shaving when the same razor hasn't been sitting in my shower since Easter!...also, as if you need another reason to sign up, their add makes me laugh my behind off every time. Watch here

All of these are simple and easy tips you can follow to save time but most importantly save money so you can splurge on the things that really matter. Like this Kate Spade Christmas Dress ;)

I hope you all beat the Tuesday blues!

Until Next Time,

xo Kylie

  7. I agree, just because something is more expensive, doesn't mean it's necessarily better. And your hair is absolutely gorgeous!
