Master Bedroom Update: The Perfect Nightstand

nightstand decor

Happy Monday, readers! I'm so excited to share with you something that has been a long time in the making! My perfect nightstand...can you hear my long drawn out sigh of relief?

wood nightstand

It seems as if finding the perfect nightstand is about as difficult as finding the buried treasure, because i've been searching for months. MONTHS! Every weekend I wrote down on my to-do list "find a new nightstand!" and every weekend I came home annoyed and lacking any junk in my trunk. Or nightstands in my trunk. :)

wood dresser

That is until I saw this baby online for SO cheap and knew she had to come home with me. Some simple hardware swapping and I was in love. You see, I NEEDED something with drawers because i'm simply just running out of dresser space, and when you have a smaller home like ours, I think it's important to pack in as much storage as humanly possible. I try to stuff storage into every last corner in our home.

You all know by now that I have a huge tendency to over-decorate surfaces. I just love ALL THE THINGS and i'm totally into "classy clutter" but for my nightstand I wanted to keep it very simple with just things I really loved. Like my favorite picture of my husband. Doesn't he look like Justin Timberlake in that photo? But, like, even better looking?! Okay I might be a little biased. ;)

chrome drawer pulls

This was not an expensive piece of furniture by any means, so as you probably guessed, it's particle board with a wood grain overlay, but the color is really rich and I really don't think it makes much of a difference that it's not real wood. It came pre-drilled for some horribly ugly hardware, but I picked up these modern pulls and just used wood filler to cover the already drilled holes. We still need to paint those little spots, but i'm all for imperfection lately so I don't really have a fire under my you know what to find the perfect stain.

When it comes to decorating your nightstand, I think it should be really practical to you and your tastes. I'm currently reading Cold Tangerines so of course, it's sitting on my nightstand. I love waking up to pretty blooms and of course my favorite Eubanks & Co soy candle so those sit pretty on there as well. You can never go wrong with keeping it simple. Add height with a lamp, and don't be afraid to stack and you will almost always have something you love.

Thank you so much for reading! Our Master bedroom is coming right along, thank goodness! I can't wait until it's done and I can share the final product. I hope your week starts off excellent!

Until Next Time,
xo Kylie
