A Rosey Honeymoon! (Pompeii!)

Well hello there!

Remember me? Well I am BACK with way more photos to share than you want to see, fun honeymoon stories, and wedding pictures to boot.

Let me start by saying our honeymoon was magical. It was the best time of our entire lives (despite one hell of a travel catastrophe trying to get to Italy...but i'll save that for another day)

We took over 800 pictures during our 13 days abroad, and obviously sharing 800 pictures would not only bore you to tears, but take me 6092 days to edit, and aint nobody got time for that. So lets start this week of honeymoon goodness with our trip to Naples, more specifically our time in Pompeii.

Pompeii is an ancient Roman town built up on a hill below Mount Vesuvius, a Volcano that erupted covering the entire city in ash, preserving it perfectly for us to view 1000's of years later. It.was.amazing.

This guy is one of the most famous Cameo makers in the world. We had the awesome opportunity to watch him in action, crafting one of the gorgeous pieces of jewelry. I wanted to buy one to take home, but starting at 500 Euro's a pop was just too rich for my blood.

I saw this hat in a little market on our way up and I had to have it. My italian floppy hat is officially my favorite piece in my wardrobe. Oh and that yellow tour sticker just screams "i'm a tourist, and i'm here to party."

THIS GUY! Jake and I have several highlights of our trip, but one of them had to be walking by this Roman "gladiator" as he strolled along singing "Because I'm happy...clap along if you feel like a room without a roof" we were rolling over laughing.

Jake inside a room of a home that was lived in by your typical family when the town was flourishing.

The ruins were incredible! (and more floppy hat goodness)

The following pictures are among the most spectacular of the trip. Insane to see the casts of the real people who lived in this town 1000's of years ago.

This person curled up and put their hands over their face trying to protect themselves from the ash, and was discovered that same way by archaeologists.

This cast is controversial in that some believe it was a pregnant woman, others say that it was just a poorly done cast, either way, its pretty remarkable how in tact it still is.

The carvings and intricate details are out of this world, especially considering their age.

The skull of a person who was killed in the Mt. Vesuvius eruption. The average man stood only 5 feet tall, and the life expectancy was only 30-40 years.

An incredible fresco still alive with vibrant colors.

Oh, and in case you didn't see on instagram yesterday, I ate gelato every single day, 2 or 3 times ;) Here it is pictured dripping down my hand, and on my face. when in Rome, right?

It was absolutely incredible, and these pictures don't even scratch the surface. We had every intention of making our way to Sorrento and Capri after this tour, but as it was the day after we landed and we had exactly 0.0 time to catch up on sleep, we were spent and did what every person in Europe for the first time in their lives should do (we went back to our Cabin and took a 4 hour nap)

Next time, Italy, next time. :)

Tomorrow i'll be sharing pictures from the Ship we were on, and there are still so many more cities to share with you. Marseille and Villafranche Sur Mer, France (absolutely freaking incredible! wait till you see those) Barcelona, Spain (in our top 3 favorite cities on earth now) Portevenere, Italy (most gorgeous place on the planet) and of course, our extended stay in Rome.

Come back tomorrow, i'll be here all week ;)

xo,
Kylie

    1. It was INCREDIBLE! One of the coolest things is just touching the walls. It sounds so weird, but to know someone touched the same wall 1000's of years ago totally tripped me out ;)
